Q: What is memory foam?

The visco-elastic properties of our Body Impressions™ products means that the memory foam will mould to your body’s contours. There will be a time delay while the memory foam reaches your body’s temperature, at which point you will be cradled, giving you proper support and alignment throughout the night.

Q: How long will it take for the mattress to recover to its full height once unpacked?

Upon purchasing your mattress, leave unwrapped for 8-12 hours at a room temperature of approx 18ºC or above. The warmer the room temperature, the quicker the mattress will recover to its full height. After 8 to 12 hours the mattress can be slept upon. Complete mattress height recovery can take up to 10 days after opening.

Note: Memory Foam products often have a slight residual manufacturingodour. This will disappear within 2 weeks upon removal from the
protective, plastic packaging. Foam has a natural odour to it. The odour will fade. The foam and odour are non-toxic. Over time, your foam will oxidize, this will cause the colour of the foam to change.

Q: Does it affect the effectiveness of the memory foam being compressed and rolled up?

Not at all. You may enjoy the benefits of your new mattress almost immediately. You may notice small creases in your new mattress - these creases are normal and will normally disappear completely within a few days of opening the sealed bag.

Q: Is it possible to clean the mattress due to the memory foam inside?

The memory foam products are firstly wrapped in a hypoallergenic cloth to prevent build up of bacteria and fungal growth. If the mattress does require cleaning, use a damp cloth and pat dry with a dry towel. Clean the cover in accordance with the washing instructions contained on the specified label on the cover. Turn the cover inside out for best results. If the cover becomes damaged, please contact our customer help line number on the contacts page.

Q: What bed bases are suitable for a memory foam mattress?

All of our Body Impressions™ memory foam mattresses are designed to fit into standard bed frames and bases.

Q: Will my mattress ever need turning?

No - your Body Impressions mattress does not require turning over at any stage.

Q: Am I able to still use my electric blanket with the memory foam mattresses and mattress toppers?

If you wish you are still able to use electric blankets with both the mattresses and mattress toppers, however as the memory foam is designed to react to your body’s temperature the foam may become to soft with added heat therefore not providing you with the optimum comfort level and correct alignment for your neck and spine.

Q: Why does my mattress get warm during the night?

Because visco elastic (memory) foam is temperature sensitive, it is affected by body heat, and it is this property that makes it conform to your body shape. There are two main results of this. Firstly, as the foam conforms to your body shape, it evens out the pressure points, and distributes this more evenly over the entire contact area between your body and the mattress. As you suffer from aches and pains during the night, this should be a great benefit. Ultimately this will lead to less tossing and turning, and a better night's sleep. The other result of the close contact between the foam and your body is there will be fewer gaps and voids for ventilation, and this will mean that your body heat will be less able to dissipate than it would with a conventional mattress. The solution to this is simple, you will need fewer or thinner bedclothes, also you may wish to use a mattress overlay which provides a transport layer to allow ventilation, but would reduce the effectiveness of the foam marginally as it will cut down the transfer of your body heat to the foam.
